Your current pension scheme

If you are employed in the meat, processed meat, convenience food or poultry processing industry, you accrue pension with Pension Fund VLEP. This is also the case if you work in the Netherlands temporarily.

A pension is a source of income for you when you reach a certain age, at which point it is no longer appropriate to work. In the Netherlands, a pension consists of two parts: a basic state pension, known as the AOW pension, and a pension accrued through an employer.

Facts about your current pension scheme

Key facts about your pension scheme with VLEP

  • You accrue pension for later use. By default, this pension is paid to you when you reach the age of 68. Under the new rules, this will be the state pension (AOW) age.
  • You pay a contribution to your pension every month. Your employer does this as well. You can find the amount of your contribution on your payslip.
  • You will receive a pension payment from us every month.
  • You can make different choices when you retire. For example, you may choose to retire early.
  • If you die, your partner will receive partner's pension and your children will receive orphan's pension.
  • If you become incapacitated for work during your employment, you will continue to accrue pension, in full or in part. You will then be exempt from paying a contribution; we will do this for you.

The new pension scheme from 1 January 2027

The VLEP Pension Fund will switch to a new pension scheme on 1 January 2027. This is due to the new Future Pensions Act. The new rules are better suited to today’s society, labour market and economy. But much remains the same.

  • You will continue to receive your state pension (AOW pension) from the government for as long as you live.
  • Your pension with VLEP will also be paid out for the rest of your life.
  • If you die, your partner will also receive a lifetime pension. In addition, your partner will receive a temporary partner’s pension until they reach state pension age. This is the case now and that will remain the case.
  • At VLEP Pension Fund, we have also agreed that your pension accrual will simply continue if you become unable to work.
  • You can still make various choices regarding your pension. For example, it will still be possible to take early retirement or to swap your partner’s pension for a higher pension.

Migrating your pension to the new scheme

We distribute the money from the VLEP Pension Fund fairly. No money is lost. In a video, we explain how we convert your accrued pension from the current scheme to the new scheme.

Initial calculation

Brief explanation of initial calculation

In October 2026, you will receive a letter or email from the VLEP Pension Fund containing an initial estimate of your pension under the new scheme.

For most people, the letter is very long because it includes a lot of information and explanations.

If you started accruing pension with our fund on or after 1 April 2026, we are unfortunately unable to provide you with an initial estimate.
Watch the video for more details about the initial calculation.

Moving outside the Netherlands

Moving to a country other than the Netherlands: submit your new home address and e-mailaddress

If you are moving to a country other than the Netherlands, please submit your new home address via My Pension Figures. Foreign addresses are not automatically submitted to us.

If you will be moving within the Netherlands, there is no need to submit your new home address to us.

Leaving employement

Leaving employment: transfer your pension or it will remain with VLEP

If you leave your employment and stop working for an employer affiliated with VLEP, you will no longer accrue pension with us. Your pension will be transferred to your new pension fund in the Netherlands or we can hold onto it for you.

Option 1: You will accrue pension with a different pension fund in the Netherlands

  • Your pension automatically transfers to a new pension fund in the Netherlands if you have accrued a small pension (EUR 632,63 in 2026).
  • If your pension amount exceeds EUR 632,63, your pension will remain under our management, unless you choose to transfer it. You can arrange for this with your new pension fund.

Option 2: You stop accruing pension in the Netherlands

  • If your pension amount exceeds EUR 632,63, your pension will remain with VLEP. You will receive your pension when you retire.
  • If your pension is lower than EUR 632,63, we will try to transfer your pension to a new pension fund in the Netherlands for five years. If we do not succeed in doing this, because you have not accrued any pension in the Netherlands during these five years, you can commute the pension. For more information, please contact us.
